Electricity Tariff Fixation Commission

The Electricity Tariff Fixation Commission (ETFC) was formed in 1994 in accordance with electricity act of 1993.

It is a permanent and regular commission to fix electricity tariff in Nepal and six member commission is constituted by the Cabinet, Government of Nepal as below.

Person prescribed by Government of Nepal from non-governmental sector

Person as prescribed by Government of Nepal among the licensee of the electricity generation,

Person as prescribed by Government of Nepal from among the consumers

The Director General of the Department of Electricity Development is the Secretary of the Commission and the Department of Electricity Development works as the Secretariat of the Commission.

The meeting of the Commission is held on such a time, date and venue as prescribed by the Chairperson. The decisions of the Commission are certified by the Secretary.

While keeping liaison with Government of Nepal the Commission do so through the Ministry of Energy.
